If your Canadian trade listing just died

Do this before you hit appeal again. A sloppy second filing can close the door. Google decides. We do not.

U.S. kits ask for a utility bill and a storefront photo. Canadian home-based operators have a different paper trail — and the public facts on the website have to match the listing. This is the list we walk before we will even offer a Packet or Done-for-you.

  1. 1. Write down the last edit

Category, phone, pin, name, website. Whatever changed last is the first thing a reviewer will look at. If you do not remember, say so — do not invent one.

  2. 2. Province and postal codes on the site

Town names alone are not enough. The website should state the province, the postal codes you serve, and the city you verified from. A reviewer sitting in another country cannot guess that “Maple Ridge” is in British Columbia.

  3. 3. Real category

Primary category is what you are — electrician, plumber, HVAC — not a side credential. An electrician listing should not sit on “Engineering consultant” unless that is actually the business.

  4. 4. Hide a home address on a service-area profile

If you have no shop counter and you go to the customer, hide the street address on the Google profile. Showing a house as a storefront is a common way a legitimate SAB gets in trouble.

  5. 5. Matching documents

Name and address on licences, Hydro, and the provincial registry should match the listing under appeal. Unmatched docs are weak evidence. The named extracts by province are on the evidence map. Once Google’s evidence form opens you get a short window to attach files — have them named and ordered before you start.

  6. 6. One appeal

File one. Wait. Dumping a messy folder, or arguing in the form, wastes the review you still have.

  7. 7. No second listing

Do not open another profile “just in case” while an appeal is open. Google’s own appeal page says not to. A new listing does not skip the queue.

  8. 8. No public licence dumps

After a second denial: fix the public facts, then post on the Google Business Profile Community and list what you changed. Do not upload licences, utility bills, or ID in a public thread.

Reinstatement means the listing is showing again. It is not a return to previous map rank. Nobody honest can promise Google’s answer. Back on Maps is not affiliated with Google.

A public case of this list in the wild: NSCO Electric LTD, Maple Ridge. Already resolved. Do not message that owner.
